Last-minute Preparations

This is the FIRST time in my LIFE I've FORGOTTEN my mum's birthday. I didn't even have the tiniest idea it was her birthday yesterday. No wonder my mum smiled to me so frequently that morning, which I found a bit strange (she must be in a very good mood, I thought).

Luckily, after going home from an extra class in my school, I opened my facebook. I was confused to find my relatives congratulating my mum 'happy birthday!'. I thought that mum might be putting a false birth date since some time ago dad warned mum about putting her real profile data in facebook. Then I saw the date. Damn!!!!

I decided to buy a birthday cake and make a card (what else can I make?:). Fortunately, my mum was accompanying my dad to buy parcels and it took a lot of time to by them all, so I got a whole afternoon to work things out. ( Does that still count as last minute preparations? Well, I think it does)


And by the time my mum came home....voila!

Officially a High School Student

Yesterday afternoon, I went to my old school to take my legalized graduation certificate. It was awfully nice to see your old teachers, especially when they're smiling and everything :) Wow, three years really did passed so fast. I walked along the corridor, I remember how I used to be in those classes, itching to go home, I passed my bio lab, I remember the frog that jumped out of my hand ( and because of that it survived) during anatomy lesson, I climbed the stairs, and I remember how I used to do marathon everyday to avoid being late....

Good old times.... :)

An Undertone Bunch of Cards

I've always like pallid, pastel color, and it goes the same to card making. If you're following my blog, you'll know that recently I went to Singapore and found a nice card supplies store there. I've bought quite a lot, Maya Road Just My Type and Love Chirps stamp set, Tattered Angels Rockin' Renaissance set which includes really cool background stamps, a few ink pads and their refills.
I've been using these supplies for a lot of cards lately, and they were made in the same color combos. Enjoy!

Doesn't a bird need a nest to hatch?

This one sure doesn't, but poor eggs....lying on that hard-cemented ground. Why not lend a hand?

Last Sunday (about a month ago) when I was having a snack, Dad told me that he found a mother bird was hatching. When Dad went closer, the bird flew away leaving two little eggs on the ground.

Then it hit me: Let's make a nest!!

I quickly went to my garden and grab a chunk of soil, and mixed it with water so that it became muddy and easy to shape. Then I took ( I don't know what's its name) the plate of a pot, you know, it's sort-of a plate which covers the bottom part of a pot to prevent soil and water coming out through the holes in the pot. So I took that, and covered it with soil and some grass.

As soon as I've finished the "hand made" nest, I went to the roof, and sure enough, there was a bird hatching on the ground. I went further ahead and the bird immediately flew away. I took the chance to move those two little eggs to my nest and put it back to its place.

It's been several weeks since I made the nest, and I haven't checked those eggs yet. May be they have become birds?

Hellooo Singapore!

Wow. This blog hasn't been updated for such a long long time....Anyway, school has started again, waking up at 5.30 every morning drive me crazy, man!! Also, on my first day, I was late and got a detention. -.-' That's a great way to start school, huh? Anyhow, I am very grateful to have such nice classmates and to have such competent teachers. I still miss the old ones though, and I still miss my holiday...

Bugis Junction

Well, the reason why I missed my first day at the first day of the start of school was because I was still in Singapore that day. It's been a fun four-days-vacation. And I wanna share my experience with you guys.

It was Thursday morning when we (mum, I, my grandma, my auntie, and my cousin) flew to Singapore. All went well, until it was time for us to go to our hotel. My mum bought vouchers for Hotel Ibis Bencoolen, meaning that this hotel is located in the area around Bencoolen street. When we arrived to Ibis, my mum handed out the printed vouchers to the receptionist. It took quite a long time to figure out that actually, my mum booked the wrong hotel. The hotel mum has actually paid was called Bencoolen Hotel. It confused my mum, she clicked the word Ibis Bencoolen when she bought the voucher. The word Bencoolen Hotel was written on the print out, but then, my mum thought that it was the Bencoolen from Ibis Bencoolen.

Rather disappointed, we walked to Bencoolen hotel, to find the hotel looked sort of ...old. However, the bedroom was okay, clean, and larger than the one in Ibis. On the downside though, this hotel was much farther to Bugis Junction compared to Ibis. Beware when you're reserving hotel on Internet, guys...

The next day, we visited Universal Studio, it was a nice theme park, much smaller than the one in Tokyo, I think. I was there for nine hours straight, from 10 am. to 7.30 pm. Anyway, it will save you a lot of money if you buy the tickets online, as what my mother did. She got 20 percent discount for mine and her tickets, and she got 50 + 20 percent discount for my grandma. What's more, if you use master credit card, you can get a free 10 dollar coupon to buy any thing in the gift shop.

Basically, the area inside Universal Studio was divided to five smaller areas. There are The Lost World, Ancient Egypt, King Harold's Far Far Away, Sci-Fi City, and Madagascar. The roller coasters in Sci-Fi city were awesome! There were two different coasters, one was called human and the other named cylon. Bear in mind that if you don't ride these coasters in Universal, you don't ride anything at all. The 'human' coaster was okay, but otherwise the 'cylon' was totally cool!! It spun and curved and dropped, you'll scream 'til you lose your voice. I felt sligthly dizzy after I had this ride.

The next coaster I ride was The Revenge of the Mummy's. And because the weather in Singapore was sooo hot, this indoor roller coaster was the perfect ride for you to cool yourself. It was a fun, pleasantly
entertaining ride, with sharp turns and sudden acceleration but not too scary to numb your feet. Mind you, I had this ride for three times. I went there alone at first, and (I didn't know what was inside my mind) I went there with my grandma (fortunately my grandma is one strong girl), and lastly with my mum. She was mad, man!

"How can you asked your grandma to ride such a coaster!?" Honestly guys, after I had that 'cylon' coaster, I didn't feel a thing with this mummy ride. Oh, well!

Another safe-family-entertainment was the Shrek 4D. Nah this one was exactly the same as the one in Japan, Only the conversation was in English, not Japanese.

There were still a lot of ride I had, but mate, this would be a reallyy longgg post if I include them all.

So that was it, one long day at Universal Studio. I want to remind you, that after one whole day of playing roller coaster, you have to make sure you pay a visit to the gift shops. There are soo many Oscars statuettes, every one can have an Oscar, huh?


The rest of my days in Singapore were spent in malls. Singapore has a lot of nice malls. And if you are a food aficionado, you'll find Singapore a cuisine paradise. Try any resto that comes your way and you usually will find the food very satisfying. The image on the top left shows stuffed squid in the Japanese cuisine exhibition in Raffles Mall. yum yum!


Oh! And guys? I found a crafts store there!!!! There was also Spotlight, though they don't have many collection of stamps and ink pads. Well, the card supplies store I was talking about was located in Plaza Singapura. They have many stamps there, including some famous brand like Hero Arts and Maya Road, I was ecstatic! But then, I saw the price, and  arrgghhh.... But I did buy  three sets of stamps though (can't help it, man!), and several ink pads and their refills. I have versamagic ink pads at home, and I think they dry rather quickly so I try the memento ones, and they seemed to work fine, I bought their refills too though, just in case. And there are no refills for versamagic, that's why I was rather reluctant to purchase them.

Okay, so that was my holiday in Singapore, how's yours?

What's in the Envelopes?

What's in the envelopes? Cards, of course.

Brown and red looks good together right? I counted how many envelopes are there in these cards. Guess what? There are actual 68 envelopes summed together. Sounds hard to make, huh? No! Well, actually, it's rather time-consuming but it's a lot of fun. You only have to doodle an envelope with a heart right in the center and color it using a red pen and a brown marker  ( I used the E44 Clay Copic Marker).

As a matter of fact, card # 1 ( you're invited!) was rather tricky to make. First, you have to draw a larger envelope and embellish it, then, to make the pocket for the 'you're invited' note, you have to carefully cut a slit on the fold, then you can cut a small piece of  paper, decorate it, and put it right in the envelope in no time.

Time's Flying with the Speed of Light

This. Is. My. Last. Week. Of. Holiday. Damn.

Can you actually believe how fast time flies? I can't. It seems to me that yesterday was May, and I've just started my holiday. That's the problem with holiday huh? You just can't get enough of it. Next Monday, no, next Tuesday actually, I'm gonna say bye-bye to my free time and hi to home works.

Strange though, I'm feeling slightly excited about my new school. I've got the uniform and they're actually not bad ( light blue shirt and dark grey skirt), and I've received the books and I think they're really interesting. What's more, there are only seven subjects, all included the essentials. ( I'm confused though, I'm not getting any geography lessons, isn't geography important? It is, for me) Mind you, in my old school, there are nineteen subjects.

Speaking of old school, I think I'm going to miss it, all the happy memories....my teachers, my friends, the dumb things me and my friends did, doodling on the wall, not to mention chasing a scared frog in the lab, making an entire class smelly from the vinegar lava exploded by our miniature volcano, the most enjoyable rehearsals we had for our musical performance...Three years, felt like an eternity while I was going through it, elapsed in a blink of an eye to me now.

Hard-Lenses

I surely have changed physically a lot this holiday. For one thing, I'm tanned because I had swimming lessons and I go swimming occasionally, I've said good-bye to my old braces ( and hi for my retainer),  I've gained more weight (yeah! simply no complain for that :), I'm taller, I have more pimples ( oh well, it's a part of growing up, isn't it?), and, I'm going to get rid of my glasses.

About a week or two weeks ago, my mum accompanied me to have an appointment with an ophthalmologist to discuss the possibility of me wearing lens instead of glasses. The doctor said I cannot wear soft lenses because I have dry eyes syndrome but otherwise hard-lenses were okay for me.

The doctor told me to try a pair of hard lenses and so I did. It turned out that hard lenses are smaller than the soft ones so they only cover your pupils. It was quite easy to put them on, but man, was it uncomfortable! It felt like something was stuck to your eyes and you cannot rub them off.  My eyes went watery and red, but fortunately after about five minutes or so, I felt a bit better.

Ten minutes later, the doctor checked how my eyes were coping with the hard lenses. She said that those lenses suit me and she explained to me that a pair of hard lenses can be used for about two or three years. And because this type of lenses were designed so that oxygen can flow through them, you can wear them 30 days straight without taking them off. Other benefit from wearing hard lenses is they slow down your near sightedness progression ( mind you, I'm fifteen, and I have minus 7 eyes). But you need to be careful not to rub your eyes when you're wearing them.

At last, here I am, waiting for the shipment of my lenses. I'll update my progress with you, see you later guys!

Circles Frolic

Hello people, how's your holiday? Mine's going super duper fun, and as a matter of fact, I've just arrived home from a trip with my family. :)

Anyway, today I wanna show you guys how handy a circle punch can possibly be. Punch a bunch of circles and you can almost make anything from them : trees, flowers, anything! What's more, it gives your cards a deeply textured and detailed look. It's easy! Just stack them on top of each other and voila! You'll make one nice handmade card! 
 

Hip-Hip Hooray!! (pop up-card)

 

Hi everyone, I've been meaning to post this archive for ages, but haven't got the mood to do so. I've made this card quite a while ago, and it was rather tricky to make, because it's a pop up card. I got the inspiration to make this from my pop-up craft book. Enjoy!
